Day 3 - 75D/Evening Walk

75D

We missed our walk this morning. Slept in a little bit and then had to get ready to head into church. I knew this would happen from time to time…especially if we stay in bed until 6:30 or later. We like to get up slowly, drink coffee and read and clear out the system if you catch my drift. The best time really to walk is between 6-8am right now because we are in the middle of a 10 year heat wave and it tops 100 pretty much every day of the week. If we miss the morning, we pretty much have to wait until after the sun goes down to get in the walk.

I had a thought when we got back from church to just power through, put my hair up and do the walk in the 100 degree temps. Once we finished stopping at the store after church/breakfast (always a mistake to go to the store after church but we just never learn….) and feeling the heat just going from the car to the store, I knew we would need to wait until later in the day.

The main problem with waiting until later in the day is that you lose motivation the further into the day you get. That’s why it’s always easier to do hard things in the morning when you are refreshed and your energy levels are the highest. The longer you wait, the likelihood of things not happening increases dramatically.

Kaylee and Daniel came over for dinner and games and luckily we finished up our last game right as the sun was going down and I stuck with it and told Paul we needed to go do our walk even though all I really wanted to do was veg on the couch. We suited up all three dogs and trekked the neighborhood. Stella does NOT do well on long walks. Her hair is long and hot and she tires so easily. Piper does ok and Marv is the champ of all champs. He is such a good little walker. It was kind of nice to walk in the evening. So many neighbors have fun yard lights that look super good along their driveways and walkways and to hear the sounds of the summer evening makes me nostalgic for my youth, when being outside playing when it’s dark AND warm feels like something you shouldn’t enjoy as much as you do.

I ate an hour earlier than my eating window prescribes only because we ended up going to the earlier service and thus got out earlier and went to breakfast. I’m trying to give myself a little grace on the weekends however since social activities can be a little harder to control. So far so good though keeping my eating window between 12-8 and I’ve been keeping all sugar out.

It’s hard to believe it’s been a solid three days since I’ve even looked at insta. Wondering how my inactivity is going to change my algorithm. Hmmmm. Also starting to miss specific accounts quite a bit. More about that tomorrow.
