This is Me - I’d like to call my lifeline
This is a post included in the This is Me series where I answer 1001 questions about myself as writing practice. Each post consists of me answering 5 questions about myself. Wanna share what you would answer to any or all of the questions? Do it in the comments section!
HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH DISAPPOINTMENT?
If I'm being honest.....(sidenote, isn't that a funny phrase we use? Would I be lying otherwise? I don't really make a habit of lying when answering questions, so there really is no need to caveat and say that..."oh no...this time I'm for sure being honest..." But it's a way to emphasize what you are about to say in a different way. Sheesh...I feel bad sometimes for people who are learning English...we say some crazy things that would be hard to understand!)
Back to what I was saying....honestly I don't really handle disappointment well. I think it stems from overthinking things. I'm also a planner so, often I'll have planned something and then thought it out quite a bit so if it doesn't end up happening or doesn't end up happening the way I thought it would I feel very disappointed and it takes me a while to move past it.
I also feel quite a bit of disappointment when people in my life say one thing and do another. It makes it harder to trust them which just feels really sad to me.
BEER OR WINE?
Depends on the situation and I'm not a huge drinker anyway so most of the time it will be neither.
STICK OR AUTOMATIC?
Oh man I used to looooove driving my stick. I had a manual transmission in two of the cars from my past, my blue Chevy Cavalier and my red Hyundai Elantra. I have always loved driving stick but once I got to Seattle area...all the hills and the traffic kind of ruined it for me. I've had automatic since and do love that too, but if I had to drive stick again, I wouldn't necessarily be sad about it.
WHAT'S YOUR NIGHTLY ROUTINE BEFORE BED?
Ha! That's funny.
Ok, in all seriousness I have recently started trying to have a nightly routine before bed. I have never been a person who wears a lot of makeup...a lot of days I wear nothing at all except for moisturizer on my face. So I haven't had a lot to "wash off" at the end of the day. I'm also a person who tends to fall asleep really quickly, so by the time I end up ready to go to bed, I'm like ready to just get in bed and go to sleep. Doing "stuff" before kind of wakes me up a bit and then it takes longer to go to sleep.
But as I'm getting older, I feel like I should have a more focused effort on taking care of my skin. So I'm working on cleaning my face and putting on a nighttime moisturizer, brushing my teeth and my hair all before I go to bed. I'm still not super regular at it, but I'm getting that in probably like 4-5 times a week so I consider that a win!
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF GROOMING?
None of it. I've just never been very much of a girly girl. I don't really enjoy putting on makeup because I don't really know how and I also feel like it's a lot of work to do every. single. day. And then you just have to take it off at night anyway. My hair has been pretty great most of my life (I know, I know...humble brag) so I don't have to do a lot to it most days either. I’m a brush and go kinda gal.
I do enjoy doing my nails. I'm guessing that falls under the "grooming" umbrella? Now that I have found semi-cured gel nails, I really really enjoy doing my nails. I never really liked polishing my own nails because it's messy and smelly and doesn't typically last that long anyway. Going to get a manicure is great if you have the time and money and it still doesn't last very long. SCG is the perfect in between. You can do them yourself and they last for like two weeks without really chipping or looking terrible. Win-win! So if that does indeed fall under grooming then that is my final answer.
WHAT'S YOUR PERSONAL LIFELINE?
I'm not quite sure I understand this question. I feel like a lifeline would be a person in which case the question should be "who is..." not "what is", so that's throwing me I think. And if "lifeline" is referring to something you go to in a time of need wouldn't that be like a vice? Or a hobby? I'm honestly stumped on this questions so I'm going to give the good Christian answer...when you don't know what to say, just say Jesus. IYKYK.
