This is Me - Ice Cream Headache
This is a post included in the This is Me series where I answer 1001 questions about myself as writing practice. Each post consists of me answering 5 questions about myself. Wanna share what you would answer to any or all of the questions? Do it in the comments section!
WHAT SONG DO YOU ALWAYS SKIP?
Any song by Evanessence. I don't know what it is but I can not stand their music. I honestly think that maybe I was going through a rough time when their music first hit the scene because it's not necessarily the style of their music that I don't like, I just do not like any of it.
I will typically always skip the, "I like big butts" song as well. I know it was a huge hit with everyone and most people know all the words, but I think its just a dumb song
WHEN ARE YOU MOST COOPERATIVE?
I would like to say that I am pretty cooperative anytime it is called upon me to be cooperative.
In reality I think I'm most cooperative when other people are being cooperative with me.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?
At one point in my life I tried to make purple my favorite color but I just couldn't stick with it. I've always been partial to dark green or dark blue and I do love a good stripe. If I had to choose one, it would be dark blue...navy without any hint of turquoise, even though I do love crisp glass like turquoise water.
I find both blue and green to be very calming and I am quite certain it is because these colors are found in nature. Nature has always had a calming effect on me.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ICE CREAM FLAVOR?
When we lived in NJ, the local grocery store Weis had THE best cookie dough ice cream. Normally I like cookie dough but it has to be just the right mix of chocolate chips and cookie dough balls. And the vanilla ice cream its all wrapped up in has to be flavorful as well. This stuff from Weis had it all. Weis was actually a bit further away and more inconvenient to get to for us, but I'd go out of my way mainly so I could pick up a tub.
I'm not really partial to cookie dough though. I can take down some mint chocolate chip or pistachio and if I'm enjoying a warm brownie, nothing else can go on top other than a potent vanilla bean.
The sad part about learning about what sugar does to your body and you stop eating it, is that you can't really eat ice cream anymore. If I were to eat even a scoop of regular ice cream, my head would start hurting within 10 minutes and I would feel like crap for a long while afterward. I look at people mowing down on two scoops and can't even imagine doing that now, even though it wasn't ever an issue in the past. Good thing we found some keto friendly ice creams - even though they aren't an exact match they still taste darn good and they don't give me a headache afterward. And they have cookie dough.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CANDY FLAVOR?
Candy flavor? What does that mean? Doesn't all candy essentially taste like sugar? To be literal, I guess my favorite candy flavor is chocolate, but I also feel like chocolate is kind of in a separate category from "candy", right? It's like it's own major subset in the candy umbrella.
If I had to pick a candy that is not chocolate, I'd probably have to go with Jordan Almonds. I know, super random and not really very popular at all (and also kind of hard to find most of the time.) I just love a good hard candy shell - I'm also a big fan of sixlets, but those have chocolate so again...they don't count. I like the almonds because they cuts the sweetness. I like to take a few and put them in my cheeks to slowly suck the shell off a bit. After they are a little bit softer, I like to get them between my teeth and give 'em a nice CRACK before finishing them off. An all around good time.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MONTH OF THE YEAR?
My favorite month is highly dependent on where I live, but if I HAD to make a choice I would go with September. The crisp, fresh air settles in and a new school year full of learning and adventure looms ahead. Sweatshirts and shorts are fully acceptable and bonfires and orange leaves prepare you for the holidays ahead. I've enjoyed September every place I have lived, so hopefully Texas can deliver the same level of enjoyment.
