Week 3 - 75D/Focus
21 days. Done and done.
I find that I am both getting in a rhythm and also feeling a little bored with this challenge. I’m really beginning to think that it’s not necessarily the things you are doing every day…its the doing it every. single. day. that is where the real challenge comes from.
The urge to give myself a day off, especially from the walking or the writing is so incredibly strong. It’s really interesting when you think about it….we are so catered to these days….so entitled. We live in a world of “you do you” where your self care and self love is of the utmost importance.
I find myself decently resistant to a lot of those messages but when the rubber hits the road, I find myself falling into that mindset really easily.
“It’s just one day…give yourself a break! It’s not that big of a deal”
“Just do extra tomorrow to make up for it”
“You’ve been doing so good, you deserve a break”
All of these and more have run through my head more than once over the last 21 days and I’m sure they will run through again
The few things I do naturally like drinking water and reading are a little bit easier, but in reality doing something EVERY SINGLE DAY that doesn’t involve something you naturally do every day (putting on your clothes, going to the bathroom, feeding yourself) is a lesson in discipline.
I do find though that now that we are three weeks in, the routine is setting in. Mixing up my walking between the morning and the evening has been nice. Marvin is loving all the walks and is expecting them every day now as well. I might even find myself going on a morning and an evening walk once the weather cools off a bit. (We are still in a heat wave and it doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon.)
I’m having a LOT of thoughts about not being on instagram…so much so that I might need to figure out a way to write about it separately and or add to it as the weeks progress. It’s honestly been SO nice to step away from the chaos that is instagram, but there are functional things about it that I do miss. More to come on that.
Cheers to week 4!! Not quite halfway but we are getting there!
