April 2023
As I look back at all of my pictures from this month (my goal is to take at least one picture every single day which helps me remember what happened) I’m struck by just how blessed I am. To have a life that is so filled with fun experiences, friendship, and laughter is not something that everyone gets to experience and I am truly grateful that God has provided these blessings for me. This month was filled with great time with friends, Serve U day at church, Flourish women’s event, final brunch for Boxes class, book club shenanigans, a new CEO bible study, progress on the backyard oasis, time spent with friends and their kids…and then our trip. Our fateful trip down to the TX coast that ended up being a complete disappointment. Well, not complete, but you know what I mean. Paul got sick the evening before we were supposed to leave. We thought it might be food poisoning and would pass quickly, but he pretty much felt bad the whole time were were gone. We still did get to explore a bit of the Cinnamon Shore area as well as Port Aransas but since Paul had pretty low energy and couldn’t really eat a lot, the trip kind of felt like a bust. We also had a lot of RV issues glaring us in the face and ran into terrible weather on the way home. We had to sit under an underpass for almost an hour and then cars were floating in the standing water once we got on our way again. It was wild. But we did make the best of it and also had a great talk, you know those talks you have when you are married?
There’s still a lot up in the air in our personal and business lives and we are working through some of that. We want to get into some investment properties, some things are changing in my business, Paul is doing more projects for people and we are trying to work through that…it feels like we just have a LOT to do and the list never really seems to get smaller. I’m not sure what is driving that, but it’s going to hopefully be a focus for us together in the next few months.

Studying/Bible verse that impacted you the most?
As BSF is winding down and we are nearing the end of our study, we have been in Lamentations, Habakkuk and Jeremiah. The richness of these books as come alive more me in ways they never have before now that I have the more complete context from studying Kings and Chronicles at the beginning of this year. God has really spoken to me about the fact that I don’t really cry out to him in distress. My comfort zone is to look at hard situations logically and figure out ways to practically get through them as opposed to feeling big emotions and crying out to God. I also really appreciated Habakkuk and his questions to God. I love asking (and answering) questions and I really love how God shows us through his prophets that it’s OK to ask questions. He can handle it and he will answer. We have to be patient and stand firm on his promises, but he will answer. We need to have open hearts to understand whatever the answer may be, he is working and has a plan. We can trust Him. Praise the Lord for that!
Favorite Memory from the month?
I’m not sure if it’s my “favorite” but our trip to the Cinnamon shore was for sure memorable. With Paul and the dogs being sick and then getting caught in a huge rain storm on our way home…it was a trip that I wish I could get a do-over on! But I probably won’t forget it any time soon!
