June 2024

June flew by faster than Paul’s driving! LOL. It started with a baby shower and ended up with us leaving to go on our first ever mission trip!

It was a relatively ordinary month that was interrupted by some awesome events. We spent lots of time watching golf, got lots of good pics from Kyle and Serina and got to spend lots of time with friends.

We celebrated our 13th anniversary with an awesome and fun filled day that included great food, and our first escape room. We really rocked it and both Paul and I solved a lot of the riddles. We got out before time but we didn’t beat the record. Next time! We also got to have another awesome dinner with Brad and Adrienne at the new Butchers Cellar in town and dang it was pricey but it was so good!!

We had our first book club and things went south fast LOL. While our discussion and meeting went great we were unclear on the next book and had to make a last minute change. It was kind of stressful and I hope we didn’t alienate anyone but I think we pretty much got it figured out. One biggest thing I am learning (even though I kind of already knew) is that managing a group of this size (close to 20!) is pretty difficult. Not everyone is going to be understanding or OK with books they might not want to read so we will see how it goes. I imagine people will eventually fall out which is probably good but hopefully it will be good for the people who stay in.

The rest of the month was really just leading up to being gone for a week for our mission trip to Red River. I had a ton of galleries to get out before we left and lots of details to manage to make sure everything was good before we took off. We got it all figured out and watched the disastrous debate a few days before we left.

We left on the 29th for Red River and after a loooooong drive we made it and got all set up. I’ll talk more about that trip next month as I’m still processing everything about it, but overall June was a great month for us!!

It was at the very end of the month but we drove a looooong 10 hours to Red River, NM for our first mission trip.

Watched

Saw Fall Guy at the theater on our anniversary and it was pretty funny but forgettable. Finished Dark Matter and started Presumed Innocent.

Read

Favorite from the month: What Happened to Nina? Such a good mystery and awesome on audio!
REALLY disliked: The Menopause Reset - was more about nutrition and not really menopause :/

Studying/Bible verse that impacted you the most?

Paul and I started a new study on James - we haven’t gotten very far for a few different reasons. Paul doesn’t really like the way it’s written and I’m just getting out of it what I can. We’ve actually had a lot of good discussions because of it though so I still think it’s a positive. Not sure we will continue with it together since he dislikes it but I still think we were able to have some thoughtful conversations because of it.

Favorite Memory from the month?

We had a lot of great yet ordinary things happen this month, but the most memorable was probably our annivarsary! We had such a good day that included lots of good food and really fun activities. Paul and I have really been connecting this month and it’s been really awesome for both of us and for our marriage. HRT has been a huge blessing in more ways than one! Book club was also pretty memorable and the aftermath especially. LOL. Those types of situations are hard for me to navigate but God took care of most of it and I think it ended up all working out. Praying that it continues to happen, that not a lot of people drop out and that we are able to use it to grow in connection with each other.
