July 2024
This month was honestly pretty wild. It started with us in Red River on our mission trip and ended with us packed and ready to head BACK to NM for something else, and all sorts of stuff happened in between.
Our mission trip in Red River was great but it unfortunately ended a day early - I was super sick and instead of staying in our room all day while Paul went out and had fun, we decided to make the drive back to Waco a day early. I am so glad we decided to do that. I was sick for a few days after we got back and then Paul got sick a few days after I was starting to feel better (because of course).
After we got back it was a flurry of activities - not only did I have a ton of work to do but there was a game night at my house and then a party for the Olympian we know. Then it was book club, women’s event, and then the Morgan Wallen concert and then ANOTHER book club meeting. One thing after the other!
To top all of that off, we also spent a ton of time trying to figure out what was going on with our pool. We started having issues with it right before we left to go to Red River and haven’t really been able to get a hold of it again. I started doing my own research and learning about how all of the pool chemistry works and I learned a ton! We tried a bunch of different things and finally got a decent handle on it when it was time for us to leave town again. The bonus is that we did have some good pool days and Sam and the girls came over probably like 4 times to swim and the whole fam came over on a weekend which was super fun. I taught Kinzy and Lolo how to play Sequence and Lolo really took to it and liked it!
The end of the month wrapped with another book club meeting and packing and getting ready for our trip to Albuquerque. Whew!

Travel
LOTS of driving this month. We drove the 10 hour drive home from Red River at the beginning of the month. I was sick during that drive so that sucked. Also drove up to Arlington for the concert. Then we drove again to NM but technically we left on Aug 1st so it doesn’t count even though it felt like it.
Watched
We saw The Quiet Place, Day One in the theater - didn’t really like it. Finished Presumed Innocent and started watching Your Honor. Stopped b/c we went to Alb and mostly watched the Olympics. Will probably pick it back up in August.
Read
Favorite from the month: Here One Moment - this was an ARC and went in some wild directions, but I really enjoyed it!
REALLY disliked: The Rule Book - just not a huge fan of her dialogue and tropes. Second book by her and I’ll probably avoid any more in the future.

Studying/Bible verse that impacted you the most?
I have been slacking majorly when it comes to all things Bible this month. I haven’t really done any studying at all. I did read a book on the differences between Calvinism and Arminianism which I found really fascinating.
Favorite Memory from the month?
Fave memory from this month is a tough one but I’m going to have to go with the Morgan Wallen concert. It was such a fun and chill day driving up to Arlington, checking into the Motel 6 which was directly across the street from the stadium, eating at Panda Express and then walking across the street, climbing all the way up to the top to our seats and enjoying the show. We got some swag, laughed at all the real or fake cowboys, remained amazed by the sheer number of people wearing boots and then walked back across the street and were in bed and sleeping before the traffic had cleared. The whole experience was just a super fun adventure for me and Paul to go on together and the music was pretty good too!
