December 2023
The month started while we were on the cruise so that’s not a bad way to start a month right? It does make a little bit weird though when you have a big “thing” that crosses two months. Total #firstworldproblem. Anyway, as we were getting back from the cruise, Travis wasn’t feeling great, then Jessica wasn’t feeling great. I made it all the way to Wednesday - I got my hair cut that morning - and then by the evening I wasn’t doing great either.
So we pretty much were all sick the week after the cruise. I had a fever Friday night and into Saturday and was down for the count. Paul wasn’t feeling great either. We finally started feeling better that next week but were snotty and coughing for most of the month of December.
We did get a new fake tree! Wanted to get a real one but couldn’t find a good looking one anywhere and we ran into a decent looking 9ft tree at Sams so we grabbed it. It looks nice and I’m sure it will serve us for a long time. Anchor Down Christmas party was awesome - Adrienne and Brenda brought the same gift and they ended up with each others (so funny!) and our gift exchange party was a pretty good time as well. Never enough stealing in my opinion, but we still had a great time.
Christmas was pretty low key, we hung out with Trav and Jess and saw a couple of movies - Hunger Games and Wonka. Ate way to much popcorn and sweets but we’ve decided to go hard for January. I had to stop finishing books because I hit 100 and Paul’s 12 books for Christmas was a total hit! So many good books to add to my shelf. We enjoyed Christmas and NYE service at church and Paul built an awesome step surround for the hot tub. Should make getting in and out way easier. I’m still waiting on some news but I’m feeling more peace about it so even though I didn’t get the answers I was hoping for in December, I’m feeling hopeful and optimistic about 2024.

Studying/Bible verse that impacted you the most?
At the very end of the month, my friend Lynn shared with me that the Lord had led her to Proverbs 20:24 as she was praying about next year. This really struck me as I’ve been in this period of waiting for what seems like a long time, but I need to just rest in the knowing that God knows where he is leading me…I just need to wait on him and trust that he knows what he is doing because he does!
Proverbs 20:34
A person’s steps are directed by the Lord.
How then can anyone understand their own way?
Favorite Memory from the month?
I think the Christmas party at our house is probably one of my favorite memories from the month. We still feel so incredibly blessed by the fact that we have only lived in Waco for a short while and we are still able to get over 20 people to our house for a party. Really an amazing blessing that we do not take for granted!
