January 2023

2023 started off pretty slow and picked up from there. Not sure how January always feels like the longest and shortest month all at the same time.

Paul had a trip in the middle of the month which kind of broke things up. Stuff started back up again in the second week, bible studies and gatherings. I went back to BSF and read my testimony in front of everyone during Anchor Down. I really tried not to cry but that was just not possible. Spent a LOT of time walking and the weather was mostly gorgeous for that. We had dinner out with friends quite a few times and of course, we celebrated Paul’s birthday!

We had some high highs (sold the Albuquerque house!) and some low lows (family issues) which overall makes up most of life. Really leaning on the Lord for quite a few things that are uncertain. Should Paul get a job or go full in with self-employment? What should we invest in? What is next for me and my business? So many questions and not a lot of answers. Feeling blessed but also like we are entering a very new season in our life that hasn’t looked like any other seasons before.

Praying for guidance and a continued hunger to do God’s will! Excited to see where this year will lead!

Read

Studying/Bible verse that impacted you the most?

In BSF we’ve been going through some of the minor prophets and the end of Kings and Chronicles. I think the thing that has impacted me the most is how there was a series of really bad kings and then one really good one and then his son was really bad and so on and so forth. It happened so much with the back and forth that it is just really interesting how even though a child might have been raised under a really wicked king, he might have been a king after the Lords heart and vise versa. Really interesting showcase of how disaster strikes when we don’t have a heart for the Lord. We are given over to our depravity and nothing good comes of it. But if we humble ourselves and repent, God is so merciful. Often when it seems so undeserved. God is amazing.

Favorite Memory from the month?

Probably getting the espresso machine. A lot of great things happened this month but this was the most memorable because we have both been wanting one for a while. I think we both thought it might be easier to use than it ended up being, but we are having fun figuring it out!
